“Strive to make practices and games enjoyable experiences that will both develop skills and provide positive life long memories for every player”.
Our mission as coaches is simple: We will challenge the athlete to be a winner in all that she does, because we’re not just teaching lessons for softball….we’re teaching lessons in life.
The statement “Playing time is earned, not given” is the foundation of this coaching philosophy. Everyone is expected to put the best interest of the TEAM first, before any thought of individual accomplishments. No individual, coach or player is more important than the TEAM. The amount of playing time each player receives will depend on player attitude, skill level, hustle/effort, and game situations.
In fulfilling the purpose statement the following areas are emphasized throughout the program’s development and success.
1) Team Pride- cornerstone to a competitive program
2) Teaching and repetition- the two tools to prepare each player to be the best she can be.
3) Mental Preparation- as important as physical preparation towards player development.Under each of the three major developmental categories, there are many specific traits that will be emphasized throughout the program. The goal of the coaching staff is to have multiple strategies to help the athletes develop in all of these areas.
Finally, our philosophy includes the fact that playing competitive softball should be FUN.
