President’s Award for Educational Excellence (Grades 6, 8, 10, 12)
The President's Award for Educational Excellence is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education in partnership with NAESP and NASSP to assist schools in recognizing and honoring students who have achieved high academic performance in the classroom and on state standardized achievement tests.
To be eligible for the President's Award For Educational Excellence, Shell Lake students at each award level (Elementary-Grade 6, Middle-Grade 8, and Secondary-Grades 10 & 12) must meet the requirements outlined in both A and B.
A. Grade Point Average
Students are to earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Elementary- Grade 6 Award- Cumulative GPA for Grade 5 (all 4 quarters) and Grade 6 (first 3 quarters)

Middle- Grade 8 Award- Cumulative GPA for Grade 7 (all 4 quarters) and Grade 8 (first 3 quarters)

Secondary- Grade 10 Award- Cumulative GPA for Grade 9 (all 4 quarters) and Grade 10 (first 3 quarters)

Secondary- Grade 12 Award- Cumulative GPA for Grade 11 (all 4 quarters) and Grade 12 (first 3 quarters)
B. State Tests or Nationally Normed Achievement Tests
High achievement (85% or higher) in reading or math on the state tests or nationally-normed achievement tests.
- Elementary- Average of State Percentile scores for reading or math from WKCE obtained in grades 4, 5, and 6.
- Middle- Average of State Percentile scores for reading or math from WKCE obtained in grades 7 and 8.
- Secondary- Average of State Percentile scores for reading or math from WKCE scores given in grade 10.
